This community is a wooded lakefront community where everyone has access to the lake either by a lake shore lot or use of The Walnut Run Marina. There is a Property Owner Association with a board of directors made up of volunteers who have been elected by the membership. We are a mix of ages, predominately 55+, but there are no age restrictions. All are welcome in our safe, quiet, young-at-heart community. We have a high volunteer rate of active residents who keep our community attractive with regularly mown roadsides and flower gardens in a natural, woodland setting. We enjoy all that Smith Mountain Lake offers with a friendly, easy going life style. Many of us take leisurely rides around the community or down to the marina where there are boat slips for those who are part of The Marina Association, and boat launch for all to use. Residents enjoy walking on our wooded roads, fishing, boating, bird watching, and a regularly scheduled picnic and breakfast meeting. There is even a 4th of July parade put on by community members. Walnut Run community was established in 1987 consisting of 118 lots. Currently approximately 70% of these lots have homes already built on them with new homes going up each year.
